  • How can I become an interpreter?
Becoming an interpreter is a wonderful career choice! There are lots of paths you can take to get there. I suggest watching my video where I chat about different ways to become an interpreter. It's packed with helpful tips and info on what you'll need to kickstart your journey. Check it out for a clearer picture of what it takes!
  • How can I become an immigration court interpreter?
Check out the following video to learn about the process to become an immigration court interpreter. In a nutshell, if you 1) are a US citizen or permanent resident, 2) have at least one year of interpreting experience and 3) have some experience in the legal field, you may qualify. The best part is you'll get the training you need at no cost! Reach out to me and I can refer you to an excellent recruiter. If you are one of my referrals, I'll be your mentor through the process and I'll provide additional resources and guidance to help you succeed.
  • Do you recommend any medical interpreting courses?
There are many medical interpreter training courses available. Choosing the right one for you is a very personal decision based on your individual needs and preferences. I recommend checking out this video where you'll learn about factors to consider when selecting a medical interpreter training course. This will help you make an informed decision and choose the course that is best for you.
  • How can I find out if the medical interpreting course I like is approved?
Great question! Since there isn't a comprehensive list that includes all courses approved by the CCHI or NBCMI certification programs, it would be best to contact them directly to find out. Here's how: CCHI: NBCMI: Contact form
  • How can I work with a US-based company if live overseas?
I'm a US-based interpreter and I'm not familiar with the hiring process for overseas interpreters. However, I highly recommend you post this question on an online forum or group for interpreters. I'm sure there will be lots of colleagues who are based outside of the US who will gladly share all the details.
